1 Year On

November 5th, 2011 — 8:00am

We spent our wedding day in a bubble of laughter, love and romance.  A day where our feet barely touched the floor, and the smiles never left our faces.
A year on and we’ll be going back to Nailcote Hall to relive one of the most fun days of our lives.
I still can’t believe how lucky I am to have found someone so wonderful, who picks me up when I’m down, always knows how to make me smile and loves me unconditionally.
Happy 1st Anniversary Has.

This has to be one of my favourite pictures of the wedding.  It captures so much about how I was feeling.  In that moment everything else was a blur and all that mattered was us.

Wedding Ideas Magazine – featuring Us!

July 13th, 2011 — 9:47pm

Wedding Ideas Magazine was my bible when I began planning our wedding and the section I always flipped to first was the Real Life Bride feature.  For the same reason why I love blogs.  I’m nosey!

I knew I wanted to get our wedding featured, so I sent it in, crossed my fingers and waited for a reply.  A few weeks ago I opened up my inbox to see an email from Wedding Ideas Magazine.  Happy dance!

Our wedding is featured in this months issue! Out today!

We’re so pleased with our 3 pages of fame and we’ve had wonderful comments from people who have seen it.  It’s going to be a fabulous little keepsake – something to show the grandchildren!  Thank you Wedding Ideas Magazine

6 months

May 5th, 2011 — 9:00am

On one hand I can’t believe how fast the time has gone and on the other our wedding day feels like it was only yesterday.

In our 6 months of married life we have been on the best holiday of our lives, moved to a new flat and have spent time and money on making it into our cosy home.  I have started a new job and have nursed Has back to health who is just about over getting Chicken Pox!

After spending hours in front of a computer Has has finished our wedding video, which I love!  I’ve watched it countless times already and have cried at every viewing.  It really was such a spectacular day and I cherish every memory from it.

It’s been a busy half a year, and although 6 months isn’t really a long time it’s nice to acknowledge our mini little anniversary so to mark the occasion we are going for a meal at Pasta di Piazza in Birmingham.

It’s funny to think that this time last year I was crazy with excitement at only have 6 months until our wedding and now I’m a married lady with very fond memories and an extremely happy future to look forward to.

Here’s to many more anniversaries.  Love you xxx

Our friend Ian put together a selection of photographs from our wedding to make this slideshow.

I love it!

We’re having trouble getting the actual video of our wedding together, which is frustrating, so to have received this the other night certainly made me smile.

Photo Presentation Box

March 30th, 2011 — 9:00am

Our photo presentation box came through the post last week.  We opted not to have an album because we wanted to create our own combining our professional shots with pictures our friends had taken (still have to do that!)

I love that the box itself has our favourite photo on along with our names and wedding date.

We chose 40 prints from the hundreds our wonderful photographer Deborah Stott took, which was so difficult but we’re really pleased with the ones we selected.

A beautiful little keepsake and we love it!

Leaving their mark

February 16th, 2011 — 3:14pm

Signing frames and guest books, Ok so their not new ideas, but they’re still a good one!

Our photographer Deborah Stott arranged for our favourite photo from our pre-wedding shoot to sit in a frame with the mount ready for everyone to sign.

It now hangs proudly on our wall in our hall way.

I have to admit that half way through the evening I suddenly realised that nobody knew to sign the mount so I had to rally up a few people to spread the word!  I love looking at the messages, there were a few on there where I couldn’t identify the author but after a little investigation work I now know the scribblers!

Our guest book is one of my favourite things ever.  The day after our wedding we sat at my parents house as I read aloud the entries, I literally couldn’t read them for crying.  I was so touched by what people had written.  I love to just get it out and sit quietly reading it, it actually lives in our bookshelf so I can easily grab it when ever I feel a little sentimental.

I think if you have lost someone close to you, you can’t help but think about them on your wedding day.  I was very close to my Grandad George and know he would have been so proud to see me walk down the aisle.  Although my Dad raised a glass in his speech to people who could not be with us on our wedding day, I wanted a private way to remember my Grandad.

He used to always wear a tiny white horse pin on his lapel, so a few days before the wedding my Mom and I sewed it into the lining of my dress.

It was a nice way for me to have my Grandad close to me on my wedding day.

Memory Boxes

January 19th, 2011 — 11:41am

As I’m sure you are well aware by now, I am a huge sentimental sap.  I keep old tickets, cards (especially this year’s Christmas cards!) photos, emails, text messages, pretty much anything that I can look back on and smile.  I know I was going to keep a lot of bits from our wedding and wanted somewhere to display them, so I added two memory frame boxes on to our gift list and we were very generously bought them.

In the first one I framed our invitation, our chalk board heart place cards, the wine charms, our save the date magnet and the clay hearts Has’ mom made to hang on our favour boxes.

The second one included dried flowers and petals taken from my bouquet, the lace that was wrapped around the stems, the pearls that were intertwined with my bouquet and the vows I said to Has.

I really love these boxes, we are moving very soon and I can’t wait to have them hanging on our walls.  They are such a lovely way of preserving special memories.

Parent Albums

January 12th, 2011 — 12:11pm

We had decided some time ago that it would be really lovely to give our parents photo albums of our wedding as Christmas gifts.

Given the fact that we didn’t arrive home from our honeymoon until the start of December and we had Christmas postage cut-off dates to think of, our deadline for getting the album finished was exceptionally tight!  Half way through the project my laptop decided it could no longer handle the size of the file I was working on and kept freezing, so just days before our postage deadline I had to start from scratch and design it all again on Has’ laptop.  We actually sent the albums to print just a week before Christmas, and if that hadn’t been enough the snow and the delay in Royal Mail post certainly sent me over the edge.  The albums arrived on the 23rd December.  I can’t tell you how relieved I was to see them on the door mat – I jumped, squeeled and danced around the kitchen.  True story – ask my brother, he was there to witness my excitement.

We used Bob Books, as I’d used them before to create our guest book and I was just as impressed.  All of the hassle, stress and nervous nail-biting was totally worth it our parents were really touched with their albums and thankfully love them.

We haven’t started our album yet, but something tells me it’s going to be a huge project!  Hopefully once things calm down a little I’ll have the time to concentrate on our wedding album.
