Our Second Reading

September 16th, 2010 — 3:40pm

Our second reading will be given by our friend Richard.  Has and Richard have been friends since school and I met Richard at college when I met Has.

When ever they get together they both seem to dissolve into their own little crazy world that I just don’t get!  Richard has been a great friend to both of us and it’s a real honour to have him read for us.

Love is…

Love is giving, not taking
Mending, not breaking
Trusting, believing
Never deceiving
Patiently bearing
And faithfully sharing
Each joy, every sorrow
Today and tomorrow

Love is kind, understanding
But never demanding
Love is constant, prevailing
It’s strength never ailing
A promise once spoken
For all time unbroken
Love’s time is forever

Our First Reading

September 2nd, 2010 — 2:42pm

I asked my godfather Trevor if he would do us the honour of reading something for us during our ceremony.  He happily accepted and our task was set to find a reading we both liked, and wasn’t too tongue twisting! (No Shakespearean love sonnets allowed!)

As a little joke Has printed off the words to one of his teams’ football songs.  Has and Trevor support rival city teams so he was never going to read it out for us.  When we presented Trevor with the words printed out, it took him a while to realise just what it was before he said “I’m not reading that!”

Jokes aside we have now found the reading we would like Trevor to read out for us.

The Art of Marriage.

A good marriage must be created,
In marriage, the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say I love you at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together and facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is a common search for the good and beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right person -
It is being the right partner.

Giving Notice

December 7th, 2009 — 8:04pm

Today I had my appointment to give notice of our marriage.  Has had his a few weeks ago but as we are getting married by Solihull Registry my interview was a little more exciting because I got to hear about what will happen at the ceromony.

Even though the interview is a necessity the lady didn’t make it formal, she was lovely and chatty and answered all my questions. We’ve been given a pack to read through so we can choose vows and how many readings we would like.  We also have to think about songs.  It’s all  very exciting especially as we now only have 11 months to go!

Our wedding will be made public for the next 15 days so anyone who wishes to object can do.
It’s all very real now!

On Your Wedding Day

November 10th, 2009 — 10:34am

Has and I have asked my godfather Trevor to do a reading for us at our wedding. I know it meant a lot to him and it means a lot to us to involve him in the wedding.

We found this reading a little while ago and really liked it. I think it’s a contender!

One wish…

An absolutely gorgeous poem by Courtney Kuchta.  I’d love to use it somehow, I think it’s perfect.
Only 16 days to go. :)
