With this ring…

September 29th, 2010 — 8:46pm

You can’t imagine the squeals of excitement from me when I saw our wedding rings for the first time.  I am absolutely, 100% , over the moon in love with them!

We had our stunning-bling-a-licious rings from Jon Keith Diamonds who I would recommend to anyone in a heart beat.  Despite only speaking to Jon via email he took our thoughts and ideas and turned them into the most perfect rings.  We really could not have wished for better.

And just because I can’t help try my ring on (again and again)  I thought you might like to see what my two rings will look like together.

I’m going to have to hide them away safe because the urge to keep trying it on is too tempting!  I can’t wait to wear them both together, only 37 days until I can!

After a rather harrowing couple of weeks, a short break away in Cornwall was the perfect medicine.  To celebrate my Auntie Dawn’s 50th birthday we descended on an absolutely gorgeous 5 bedroom house in Padstow.  We filled our weekend with crazy games, drinks, good food, beach walks and laughs.

We had the company of the beautiful boxer Maddie who certainly lives up to her name. She’d never been to the beach before and loved running around in the surf.

Crazy golf and birthday fun

Beer pong, twister and an insane game which involves the player picking up a box using only their teeth!

A fantastic weekend, one I will never forget.

My current situation

September 27th, 2010 — 3:54pm

On Friday, the company I have worked for, for 7 years went into administration rendering me redundant.  It didn’t come as much of a surprise as the company had been struggling for a while.

Luckily for us the majority of our saving has been done so the cut in income won’t have an effect on the wedding.  However, because the wedding is less than 6 weeks away and we will be on honeymoon for the month of November it means I won’t be able to have a permanent job until we get back.  I am going to have to wait for my redundancy pay, September’s wages and notice pay.

I don’t think it’s really hit me properly yet, the wedding is acting as a good distraction and I’m going to be able to fill my days with plenty of jobs.

I’d hinted in a few of my posts and tweets that this was on the cards and had told a few people to explain my distant and distracted behaviour.  Everyone has been very supportive, especially Has.  We have had to put quite a few of our immediate plans on hold because of this and I can’t help but feel guilty.    Thank you to everyone for your kind words and emails.  It means a lot to me x

Some things for the weekend

September 24th, 2010 — 1:05pm

We’re off to Cornwall this evening to spend the weekend with my family and our closest friends.  I’ve had a really up and down time recently which has come to a head today.  So I’m looking forward to just forgetting about everything by the English Seaside.

Hope you all have lovely weekend plans!

Enjoy the weekend!

2 years

September 24th, 2010 — 10:02am

We have been engaged for 2 years.

2 years ago at the Grand Canyon, days after Has got down on one knee

The other night Has asked me if it has felt like 2 years, he was surprised by my answer as I said yes! More even!

Has and I would always talk about marriage and our future, from very early on in our relationship we knew we were going to be together – yes I know how cliché and cheesy that sounds but that’s how we both felt.  I can remember spending our lunch breaks together sitting in Birmingham City Centre discussing what our dream wedding would be like, we’d discuss details like where and when, who my bridesmaids would be and who he would ask to be best men.

Now we’re 6 weeks away from the wedding and I feel like I’ve been planning it for years - part of me will really miss the wedding buzz.  I have enjoyed every single moment of being the bride-to-be.  The evenings spent with my closest family and friends creating all the details for our day.  The shopping, finding bargains and winning competitions.  Having late night chats with Has imagining what our day will be like.  I’ve loved writing this blog immensely and I can’t imagine not logging in every day to write up a new post.

Then there is the other part of me, the bigger part that can not wait to be married.  I can’t wait to be a wife and a Mrs.  I can’t wait for our wedding day,  spending 3 weeks alone together on our honeymoon and then the rest of our lives!

Yeah The Knicks Rule!!

September 23rd, 2010 — 2:51pm

Every time we have visited New York in the winter we have seen a Knicks game.  We saw them play the LA Lakers in an incredibly close game, which saw us both out of our seats shouting encouragement during the last few minutes.

We’ve seen them win and we’ve seen them lose – I just love the atmosphere of the game, the shouting, the “syke outs” and the fans.   If we’re in New York during the basketball season we’ll definitely catch a Knicks game.

Back in 2006 watching The Knicks

So it’s really no surprise that we’re going to see them on our honeymoon.  In the afternoon before we see Spider-Man on Boradway, we’ll be cheering on the New York Knicks against the Atlanta Hawks.  Go Knicks!!

And relaaaaaax

September 22nd, 2010 — 11:25am

It’s well and truly wedding central here at the moment, with 44 days until W-Day suppliers have been emailing to confirm details, we’re having to part with our cash and final decisions are having to be made.

Last week was very busy I had my first fitting, which wasn’t as great as I thought it would be.  We had a meeting with our venue to discuss all the finer details  and timings for the day, it was a wonderful evening and they basically told us anything we wanted we could have.and Friday I had my first hen party which was a scream!

It was a tiring week and to be honest I don’t think it’s going to get any calmer either, I need chill out time!  A few months ago Mom and I booked a course of facials at the Clarins Spa and  Saturday was our first appointment.

I enjoyed every-single-lotion-potion-massaging-moment!  It was incredibly enjoyable and relaxing.  I lay under a comfy thick cover whilst my therapist massaged my head, neck, shoulders and face.  She spent about 20 minutes applying cleansers, scrubs, masks and eye creams it was divine!

My skin felt amazingly smooth afterwards, and I was completely relaxed.  If you can make the budget stretch I would definitely recommend a course of massages and facials to any bride to be.  I suffer with an oily t-zone, so she suggested I try Clarins Lotus Oil as a way to trick the skin into thinking it has already produced enough oil.  I’ve been using it since Saturday night and already I’ve noticed a huge difference!

We each have another 2 appointments before the wedding and also by booking this course Clarins offer a reward scheme.  You accumulate minutes to use on another treatment.  I’ve been considering having a back exfoliation and massage treatment so my back looks as radiant as my face on the day!

It was great to just have 40 minutes being totally pampered.  The room was warm, dark and had gentle music playing in the background, I closed my eyes and just let my mind relax.  When I first booked them all I was thinking about was my skin and how I wanted it to look fresh and vibrant for the wedding – now it’s more than that.  It’s about that moment of escaping everything – even my own thoughts!  Definitely money well spent!

Friday night was my first hen party – my L plates and Willies party!

I honestly did not know a thing about it, all the planning was left up to Hayley and Suzie.  They had decorated my Mom’s house with more phallic shaped objects than I’d ever seen in my life!

When I arrived home my outfit was ready laid out for me to put on.

Everyone who walked through the door came with an Ann Summers bag with contents more obscene than the last!

We had a blow up doll called John, who everyone signed,  unfortunately I’m not sure I can post some of the messages that were written on him! Rude!

We played pass the parcel, that had the most hideous 1980′s styled porn playing cards inside that I’ve ever seen!

Mr and Mrs

Willy hoopla

and pin the willy on the man!

We even had willy shaped sparklers!

I had such a great evening, I haven’t laughed that much in ages!  The lethal Cosmopolitans we made may have had something to do with it!

Massive, massive thank you to Hayley and Suzie for arranging the whole thing you really are the best!  More thank you’s to everyone who came and brought willies with them!  You all totally made my night!  I’m now super excited for London, not long now girlies! x

Rock my Hair Comb!

September 20th, 2010 — 4:55pm

Ever since the new Bohemia Collection from Flo and Percy was released I have had my eye on the beautiful Wilderness Comb.

I was unsure as to whether our funds would stretch to indulge my obsession with this comb, seriously I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at this online!

Well, when Suzie emailed me a link to Rock My Wedding who have teamed up with Flo and Percy to offer their readers unbelievably amazing discounts (70% off for the first person to order, 50% off to the second and 25% off to the third) I knew I had to try!

I sent my email to Kirstie at Flo and Percy, my heart was pounding the entire time and I was shaking!  Ha, I know it sounds a bit extreme but I was nervous to know!  I noticed Kirstie had left a comment on the orginial blog post saying the 70% dicsount had gone.  Oh… never mind maybe I’d get the 50% off?

Then Kirstie tweeted me!  I’ve got the 70% off!!

I honestly can’t believe it!  I’m so excited and can’t wait to see what it looks like in real life!  If you remember Suzie had the Flo and Percy Clarice Headband for her wedding and that was stunning!

Thank you Kirstie and thank you to the lovely RMW ladies for this amazing competition! x
