28 years

July 31st, 2010 — 10:00am

Today is my Ma and Pa’s 28th wedding anniversary

Look how young and fresh-faced they are with the look of love firmly on their faces.  28 years later and they still look at each other like this.

Happy Anniversary, love you both very much xxx

Some things for the weekend

July 30th, 2010 — 12:00pm

We must be mad, stupid or love live music (or all three!) because this weekend we’re off to yet another festival.  We’re going to the Sonisphere Festival in Knebworth.  I hoping the weather will be as kind to us as it was last weekend – I really don’t fancy having to test out my new waterproof jacket!

So if the weather does turn wet this weekend, think of me as you scroll through these lovely links from this week ♥

  • Uber pretty wedding with very cute details, I ♥ the thumb print guest book tree.
  • Rock ‘n Roll! I love when a wedding is a true reflection of the couple
  • I love balloons and I love that dress and those shoes.  Part 1.  Part 2

3 more pay days

July 29th, 2010 — 11:57am

Last night in between cutting out Chrysler Buildings, Has and I sat down and worked out our finances.  A task I detest, I’ve never really been good at maths – number scare me, they’re mean!

We worked out all of our monthly outgoings that were essential, like our phone bills, direct debits, car insurance, petrol and food costs then worked out how much we are actually left with each month once we’ve been paid.

We did this for the next three months (Only 3 more pay packets?!) and then took away our total left to save from the over all amount of available money.

Fine.  We can cope with that.  THEN we thought about all the events, birthdays and weddings we’d be attending before the wedding…. ok, a little tighter but completely manageable.

Throughout the wedding planning we’ve been very good at hoarding our pennies which means we only have a small amount left to save.  Working out exactly where our cash goes every month has allowed us to see what “free” money we have after transferring our savings into a separate account.

Of course there will be hidden extras that crop up, however organised you think you are something you haven’t thought about will need paying.

I read a post a few weeks ago from Emma at Cake for Breakfast, where she talks about the unexpected extras that can take you by surprise towards the end of your wedding journey like airport hotels, hair appointments and honeymoon wardrobe.    I can totally relate to everything Emma has said for instance today £18 *poof* gone on envelopes!  Who’d have thought envelopes could cost so much!  Obviously that’s only a small cost in the scheme of things but at this stage every penny counts!

I’m hoping we have thought of most things and that nothing huge will pop up to surprise us!  Please!

Organised Chaos… honestly!

July 28th, 2010 — 12:49pm

Wedding has exploded… ribbon, glue, paper, bags, shape cutters, jewellery, shoes, presents, stationery, pens, gems, flat packed boxes and chalkboard hearts…. everywhere!

There are wedding related items scattered in every room in our house, so last night I took charge.  I finished off my top secret project for my bridesmaids (shhh!) and they are now safely hidden away from prying eyes!

I then ran around the house collecting everything related to the wedding and separated them into a few categories and divvied them out into their new boxes.  My thoughts being that it would be easier to put my hand on something now they have been organised.

  • Venue Decorations – including favour boxes, the candy table “sweets” sign, photo frames, wine charms, floralytes for the table decorations and chalkboard hearts.
  • Gifts – Childrens activity bags and presents.
  • Decorations and Tools – Stickies, gems, ribbon, shape cutters, tape and glue
  • Invitations – made up wedding invitations and anything else I need to finish them off.
  • Stationery – Paper, card and the yet to be cut out Chrysler Buildings and evening invitations

Doing this I have found I have actually misplaced a few items, nothing major more annoying as I can’t really think where they would be.

It’s also helped me see what I need to buy and what I need to finish off, wedding invitations being numero uno, top priority at the moment!

Something borrowed

July 27th, 2010 — 9:51am

I’m not sure when I decided that I wanted to wear my Mom’s garter on my wedding day, but I remember looking at the pretty ring of material when I was a little girl and knowing that I would wear it one day.

My parents will have been married 28 years this Saturday, so of course the garter had seen better days.  My Mom has lovingly restored it and added a few new details.

Originally the garter had a little pink rose bud detail, my Mom removed that and replaced it with a sparkly bow and a pearl heart. ♥

Wedding Garter

Thanks to my wonderful Mom, I now have my something borrowed.  I love that 29 years ago my Mom wore this garter to marry her sweetheart and now, with a little restoration I get to wear the exact same one.

Thank you Mommy! x

High Voltage

July 25th, 2010 — 2:17pm

This is where we have spent our weekend!

Hope you’ve all enjoyed yours as much as we have!

P.S I’ve just realised this photo makes it look like Bruce Springsteen was playing and nobody gives a rats… honestly it was just an advert ;)
