Some things for the weekend

July 23rd, 2010 — 3:37pm

Am I coming?  Am I going?  I can’t really tell this week!  All I know is that after I finish work this afternoon I’ll be driving to London for the High Voltage Festival, then driving all the way back again Sunday night ready to start work again on Monday morning.  (Monday’s are hard enough without having a weekend of rocking and a Sunday night without sleep!  eeek!)

If unlike me you have a spare few minutes this weekend, check out these lovelies!

Happy Weekend everyone – hope it’s full of laughter, love and happy times!

Wedding Weight Loss

July 23rd, 2010 — 9:43am

I lost 3½lbs!!

Do not ask me how!  Although I haven’t eaten as badly as I have been the last few weeks I haven’t really been careful either.

Maybe all that exercise I did last week had a delayed effect?

I now only have another 3½ lbs until I reach my first stone.

49ers

July 22nd, 2010 — 4:02pm

We’ve booked and paid for our first “event” of the honeymoon! Yay!

We’re going to see the San Francisco 49ers play the St Louis Rams (American Football)  I’m soo excited!  We nearly always book to see a sports game when we’re in America, we’ve seen Basketball, Baseball, Ice Hockey and now we can add American Football on to the list!

USA Sports games

Left to right: Me atFrozen Fury LA Kings v Colorado Avalanche in Las Vegas, Tom, Has and Me watching the Knicks in New York and Has at (the old) Yankee Stadium in New York.

We have been to every NFL game played at Wembley since it started, this year the game is played the Sunday before our wedding!  Playing are the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos – so we’ll actually be seeing two 49ers’ games back to back!

We have shoes!

July 21st, 2010 — 11:25am

… or at least 3 of the bridesmaids do!

I saw them in New Look last week and quickly sent a link to all the girls desperately asking “Do you like?  What do you think?  Should I get them”  The response from all the girls… “Yes! Go, go, go!”

So I did!

The lady behind the sales desk in New Look did look at me slightly odd and asked why I was buying so many pairs of the same shoe in different size.  A huge smile spread across my face and I proudly explained “They’re for my bridesmaids!”

I’m really happy with the shoes, I thought we were going to have a game trying to find a suitable shoe and these tick so many boxes.  The only problem I can foresee is that they are actually wide shoes, so the sizes come up a little big.  But as Suzie pointed out they’ll all be wearing party feet and for £14 a pair I couldn’t really pass them up!

I was saying to Has after I bought them, I can’t believe we’re at that stage in the planning journey where I have to think about buying accessories and shoes!  It must mean the wedding is close…… ;)

Wedding Planning Timeline

July 20th, 2010 — 12:57pm

I’m a list girl. I like to make lists, they make me happy.

It helps me to verbalise or write down what I need to do and when I need to do it by.  Planning this wedding has sent me into list overdrive!  I have spreadsheets full of costings, things to do, guests, and schedules.  Our honeymoon alone has 7 dedicated files.

My monthly countdown posts on this blog have helped me out so much.  Every month I will make a list of things I need to complete, it helps me remember everything I need to get done and I don’t end up overwhelming myself with giant “to-do” lists.

But now the wedding is getting closer I decided I needed to step it up a gear.  This is where my wedding planning timeline comes into play

Separated by different headings I have listed everything I need to do before the wedding.  The dates along the top tell me when I should be doing them by.

It includes payments, appointments and when I intend to send out our day and evening invitations.  It also includes the dates of our hen and stag parties along with any other events we may have on that will take up our time including weddings, festivals and weekend breaks.  I can see where things over lap and predict where I’m going to be busiest so I can adjust my timings.  For example I have a lot to finish towards the end of September and the beginning of October and July and August are relatively clear so I have scheduled in those months to finish cutting out our Chrysler Building order of services.

I know that I won’t stick to the timeline 100% but at least it’s a way for me to have everything I need to do down in one place.

Our DIY Guest Book Photo Album

July 20th, 2010 — 9:30am

Using the photographs from our wonderful pre wedding photoshoot with Deborah Stott, we decided to create our very own guest book with Bob Books.

We wanted to find a way of showcasing our pre wedding photos, rather than just keeping them on the CD and I also wanted to create a guest book that was slightly different from the more traditional ones.  It seemed like the perfect solution.

I downloaded (for free) the album software from Bob Books and used it to create our guest book photo album.  It was really very easy to do and only took us a few hours one evening to complete.  We left it another day before ordering just to make sure we were still happy with the album.

Our guest book photo album arrived within 4 days of ordering and we love it, really couldn’t be happier!

What do you think?

The quality of the printing is excellent and I would definitely recommend Bob Books to anyone wanting to create they’re own photo book.  I’m definitely using them again!

As you may have already guessed I’m more of a cupcake kinda girl but every now and again a traditional wedding cake catches my eye.

s.w.e.e.t.s!

July 19th, 2010 — 9:30am

If you have seen my tweets from this weekend you’ll know that I’ve been busy crafting again!  With help from my Mom, we painted our “sweets” sign for our candy table.  I picked up the letters from HobbyCraft some time ago for around 99p each and the paint were tester pots from Homebase which cost me about £2 each.

(I’ve also used the paint on another project that I can’t share until after the wedding… sorry, all I can say is it might have something to do with bridesmaids and it might have something to do with presents!)

Unfortunately we had run out of plastic gloves so it got a little messy!

Ok, a lot messy!!

We used brushes to makes sure all the tight spots were completely covered with two coats of paint and then used a roller brush to smooth over the fronts of the letters.

I’m so pleased with the results!  It took us around half an hour from start to finish including waiting time for them to dry.

The plan now is to tack them on to a piece of wood so the letters can stand up on our candy table.

Wedding Weight Loss

July 16th, 2010 — 9:21am

I gained 2lbs.

Kick up the bum well and truly received! Loud and clear!  After about 2 weeks of not really tracking, over indulging and generally having a “one more can’t hurt me” attitude it’s finally all caught up with me.

Trust me it could have been a lot worse but I think my regular work outs on the Wii Fit have helped slightly.

I’m back to tracking and saying no to cakes and treats.  I guess I’ll have to stop making cupcakes too, the temptation is obviously too much for me to resist!
